EGE math exam

EGE math exam prep 2027: advanced and basic levels

Grade 11 adds derivatives, trigonometry and solid geometry to the curriculum, but what trips students up more often is what was never understood earlier. Preparation for the EGE, Russia’s state exam after grade 11, covers all of math, not just the topics of the last two years.

How the prep is built

Working through a hundred practice papers and still failing is nothing unusual

A practice paper shows what the student can’t do. It doesn’t say why. Until the cause is found, the next paper will end the same way — only with less time left before the EGE.

  1. First we find where the gap is

A progression problem goes unsolved not because the student has never seen progressions, but because somewhere earlier fractions or exponents never clicked. The knowledge check looks for the cause instead of just recording the mistake.

  2. The plan goes from the bottom up

Topics are connected: you can’t get one until you’ve got the one before it. The order of preparation is built on these connections, so you don’t have to go back over covered material at random.

  3. A walkthrough, not a ready-made answer

Problems from real exam papers are worked through step by step — with questions for the student and hints at the point where they got stuck. Copying the answer won’t work: the goal is for them to solve it on their own next time.

  4. You can see where you are now

The estimated score and the list of weak topics are updated as you study. It’s clear what’s already done and what still stands between you and the result you need.

How the prep goes

Preparation follows the exam’s task numbers, not textbook chapters

The EGE in math comes in two versions — advanced (officially the “profile” level) and basic — and they are two different sets of task numbers. Inside, each has a structure of its own: the tasks of a real exam paper, and behind each task exactly the micro-lessons it needs.

  1. The exam is broken down into task numbers

There are as many blocks as there are tasks in a real EGE paper. Open a task number — inside is only what that particular task needs.

  2. The breakdown is by solution method, not by topic

The same topic comes up in several task numbers at once, while a solution method belongs to just one. That’s why the task numbers are put together from the official exam papers and by method: a block holds nothing extra, and nothing is repeated twice.

  3. A short knowledge check before each task number

It determines how well that task number is already mastered. The result decides how many micro-lessons open up next: the better you did, the fewer. Nobody is going to explain all over again what the student can already do.

  4. You set the goal, and the content changes with it

The time left until the exam, how many times a week to study, the score you need and the scope of the curriculum: only what the exam requires, everything from the beginning up to the current grade, or the entire curriculum. Change a setting, and the set of micro-lessons in the task numbers changes.

  5. You can see whether you’ll make it in time

The top of the screen always shows how many sessions are left to the goal. If the chosen settings don’t leave enough time, the platform says so plainly and offers a choice: move the deadline, lower the target score or study more often. It won’t quietly bend the numbers to fit what you’d like to see.

What the prep covers

What you need to be able to do for the EGE in math

The exam doesn’t test the names of topics — it tests the ability to solve specific problems. So the curriculum is broken down further: section — skill — solution method — worked example.

943
solution methods
222
distinct skills
6,594
worked examples
469
common mistakes the system recognizes

There is one knowledge base for all of math, but each exam has its own preparation route. That’s why the numbers for the OGE (the state exam after grade 9) and the EGE are different: the EGE requires its own set of skills and solution methods, and nothing extra makes it into the plan.

Questions about EGE prep

Preparation covers all of math, and the depth depends on which topics you take. The advanced-level areas — the derivative, trigonometric equations, solid geometry, problems with a parameter — are part of the curriculum; for the basic level, they simply won’t be in the plan.

Start with a knowledge check

It finds the earliest topic that wasn’t understood — often it turns out to be long before grade 11 — and builds the preparation plan from there.
